Studium Generale is part of the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) and organises scientific, social and cultural programmes throughout the year. The programme consist of lectures, debates, a monthly talk show, a monthly Open Stage Night, movie nights, cultural and scientific events and a wide range of workshops, courses and performances.
After 7 years it was time for Studium Generale to get a new promotional video. They had noticed that they were going unnoticed in the university landscape and took on a rebranding move. Part of this was a new promotional video that was supposed to showcase their current portfolio of events offered, while simultaneously announcing to the world, “hey, here we are!”
The filming period of this promotional video took half a year. As we wanted to showcase a wide variety of Studium Generales portfolio of event we filmed 11 events. This ranged from simple, one location filming, to biking with a stabilizer behind a group of urban explorers. In order to stay aligned with their new look and feel we went of a modern sleek look with a slightly faded black. The biggest challenge was to compress all these events into a 1 minute video, meaning we only had 3 short shots per event, challenging us to balance the best shots with also giving as good of an overview of the event as possible.
